Looking at getting one of these. Seems like a good value with the 2 year unlimited millage CPO warranty. Al so manual. What do y’all think?
Currently I drive a 2000 Ram 2500 Cummins. Got some offers on it that would cover this and let me put some money in the bank. I miss my old Saab manual wagon, this car seems like a modern version of that.

I mean, other than the whole Dieselgate thing, they seem pretty alright.

I don’t have any national statistics, but the turbo likes to grenade itself sometimes on this motor. But I have that power train in my MKVI TDI and done the emission modification. I have 60k miles on it and have never had a problem. But, I do 5k mile oil changes with VW spec oil, then add my own little concoction. I do oil samples to keep an eye on things. I use fuel additives to keep the DPF and HPFP running smoothly. And I love the car.
But even if the turbo goes, or the HPFP, the extended TDI warranty will cover it all. Two Oppos have bought a TDI in the last month and so I looked at the warranty and it will cover basically anything besides a transmission or ABS fault.
Now, having said that, I know the estate version tends to have issues with the sunroof. Complaints of squeaks, and the sunroof drain can clog and cause water intrusion. As long as the sunroof remains lubed, and the drain doesn't get clogged, there is no ticking time bomb on that car.

High pressure fuel pump . They tended to randomly, um, explode.

I just bought one a week ago - I love it. I asked oppo the same questions and general feedback from those that owned one was positive.

The CPO plus the TDI extended emissions warranty sealed the deal for me.

We had a 2014 TDI wagon with DSG. Absolutely wonderful car. Drove great, great in snow, amazing mileage and great space. Bought back with the settlement, I would have kept it but my wife felt deceived.

I thought VAG bought all the diesels back. Was this one a non-cheating diesel?

I think they fixed all the ones they bought back. There was an annoying disclaimer posted on the drivers window on my test drive.

That Ram will be worth a small fortune soon though.

It’s already worth a small fortune, value will only go down as I add miles and drive it with salt on the ground . It’s also not really working for me right now, I’ll be a professional person starting this summer when I graduate, possibly with a 50 plus mile commute starting out . Plan is to eventually get a you esque Toyota truck for doing the home shop work, once I have a home I can park 2 cars at.

Love my ‘15 jetta diesel , should have it back this week from diesel fix phase 2 and have that sweet extended warranty. Pretty soon these jetta diesels will be a rare sight on the roads as VAG will probably never bring TDI back to the american market.

They fixed a large chunk of them and have started pushing them back out to dealers as certified pre owned cars.

That’s a great dealer to work with. My dad got his Outback from a guy named Mark Manning at Flow Burlington! The buying process was super easy and overall straightforward.

Makes sense. I have a strong bias towards the utility of a pickup.

Do nt miss out. I bought one and got deals for 2 of my close friends. Same as I told them u don’t like it sell it in 2 years when warranty expires. Or right before. I’m personally gonna be putting over 100k in those 2 years. Unless u need the added space I would go for the regular Jetta instead of the wagon. It's slightly better on fuel. I also commute 80 miles one way to work. I love manual trans but for commuting that dsg is awesome. It's still a manual transmission internally so u get the same MPG. But no leg cramps, and no issues in traffic. Plus the CPO warranty covers almost every component in the vehicle. All u have to pay is 50 bucks per visit. The only thing you should think about is price. Shop around and make sure u get the best price. They are worth a lot more than dealers are paying for them.

Aso I forgot. The panoramic sunroof does have issues over time the sunshade gets stuck happens more in high heat areas tho.

They offered a buyback or a very large “gift card” for owners affected by the whole dieselgate thing. The cars where either reprogrammed or retrofitted (depending on the model year) to meet emissions standards without cheating. Cars that where ‘fixed’ by VW also carry a 10 year 120k mile warranty on the entire fuel system, anything to do with emissions, engine long block assembly, and transmission, which is a HUGE advantage. I bought a fixed 12' Golf TDI and it is a fantastic car, still good power and I regularly get 47-50mpg on the highway! VW has flooded the market with TDI’s and they can be had for a song these days.

Not only the CPO warranty. All TDI’s that where fixed also got a 120k mile/ 10 year warranty on the ENTIRE fuel system, emissions system, engine long block assembly and transmission. That's a lot of coverage on many of the most expensive components.

I’m also kinda being pushed to replace the truck. My brother recently totaled my mom’s Lexus so my parents are trying to make the family fleet safer, it’s unlikely everyone would have walked away safely had the crash been in my truck, and insurance definitely wouldn’t have paid me back what it was worth.

I’ve heard good things about them too, and might be moving to Burlington later this year. There is a similar wagon here in Raleigh but this one is better equipped for less money.

I bought a '14 Jetta Sport wagen 5 months ago and love it. It's got the DSG trans and loaded interior. Driving over an hour for work each way, this car is great. Getting 39mpg in stop and go traffic, and can peak around 42mpg on longer trips with 0 changes to the stock car. The warranty is a nice fall back in case anything does go wrong. The older years do not require DEF fluid or AdBlue as VW calls it, which has to be added at oil change intervals to keep up the warranty. The car has plenty of power to get around slowpokes and have a little fun. Just get the windows tinted asap, the inside gets hot as balls in the summer.

Saabs were modern enough & we all know it. I would hold out for a 9-5 Aero SportCombi.

I mean mine was a 2000 9-5 that I bought for $400. Not the worst car but by no means modern. As much as I liked it I wouldn’t buy essentially the same car but 10 years newer, yet still 9 years old with no warranty.
